WOMEN INTERNATIONAL MATCH RACING CRITERIUM 2005

Notice of Race

1. ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The organizing authority will be the Club Náutico de Calpe under the jurisdiction of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Federación de Vela de la Comunidad Valenciana.

2. VENUE AND DATES
The venue will be the Club Náutico de Calpe in Calpe (Alicante), Spain. Races will be held in the waters of Calpe Bay on the Mediterranean Sea.

3. EVENTS GRADING
The event has applied for ISAF Grade 1. This grading is subject to review by ISAF Match Race Advisory Board. The event may be re-graded when there is clear reason to do so.

4.1 Attendance
Unless excused by the organising authority, attendance at the following is mandatory:
(a) the daily briefing, for skippers;
(b) the prize giving, for the skippers and crews participating in the finals (all other competitors are encouraged to attend).

5. SKIPPERS ELIGIBILITY
a) 12 skippers will be invited.
b) Only skippers invited by the organising authority are eligible to enter.
c) The designated skipper shall helm the yacht at all times while racing, except in an emergency.
d) A non-refundable entry bond of 300 € shall accompany the acceptance of invitation for this to be valid.
e) To remain eligible a skipper shall confirm acceptance of her invitation in writing (fax or e-mail is acceptable) to be received by the date specified in the letter of invitation. The entry shall be filled and sent to:

6. ENTRIES
The skipper shall be entered on completion of registration, and the payment of deposit.

7. REGISTRATION
Skippers shall register and sign personally in the office of the Club Náutico de Calpe, before 19:00 hours on the day 26 of April 2005. The entry shall be confirmed after registration and weighing of crews.
7.1 Damage Deposit
a) At the registration, the Entry Bound (300 €) will be transferred into Damage Deposit for loss or damage coverage. This will be the maximum charge consequently to an incident.
b) Any remaining deposit will be refunded to the skipper by the prize-giving ceremony.
c) Insurance. All competitors are required to have adequate third party insurance.

8. RULES
a) The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the RRS 2005-2008, and including Appendix C.
b) The Rules for the handling of Boats will apply, and will also apply to any practice sailing.
c) The OA may place an observer on each boat to provide information to the umpires.

9. BOATS AND SAILS
a) The event will be sailed in J-22.
b) Six boats will be provided.
c) Each boat will be provided with a mainsail, a jib and a spinnaker.
d) Boats will be allocated by draw, either daily or for each round as decided by the Race Committee.

10. CREW (INCLUDING SKIPPER)
a) The number of crew (including the skipper) shall be four (4), all of whom must be women. All registered crew shall sail all races.
b) The maximum total crew weight shall be 272 kg, when wearing at least shorts and shirts.

11. EVENT FORMAT
a) The event will consist of Round Robin, semi-finals and finals.
b) The P.R.O may vary the format, terminate or eliminated any round when conditions do not permit the completion of the intended format.

12. COURSE
a) The course will be windward/leeward with starboard rounding, finishing downwind.
b) The racing area will be in Calpe Bay, near the Club Náutico.

13. ADVERTISING
a) As boats and equipment will be supplied by the organising authority, Appendix 1, regulation 20.3.2 applies. Each boat will be required to display advertising as supplied by the organising authority.
b) Boats shall not be permitted to protest for an alleged breach of any rule regarding advertising. (Amends RRS 60.1).

14. PRIZE-MONEY
1st classified 1.800 Euro
2nd classified 1.200 Euro
3rd classified 600 Euro

15. MEDIA, IMAGES AND SOUNDS
The organising authority may require television personnel and equipment (or dummies) to be carried on board while racing and may require competitors to be available for interviews. The organising authority shall have the right to use any images and sounds recorded during the event free of any charge.

16. COACH BOATS
a) Coach boats shall register with the organising authority, and conspicuously display identification of the team(s) being coached.
b) Any interference by a coach boat with the racing or event organisation may result in a penalty applied at the discretion of the jury to the appropriate skipper(s) or team(s).

17. ACCOMMODATION
The Club Náutico de Calpe Organising Committee provides free accommodation for all participants from 26th of April to 1st of May, 2005.

18. DISCLAMER
All those taking part in the event do so at their own risk. The organising authority, its associates and appointees accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury orinconvenience incurred, howsoever caused to persons or things on the water or on shore, as a consequence of participating in this event.
The organisers call the attention of the participants to "fundamental Rule 4" of RRS:

"DECISION TO RACE”
A boat is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to start or to continue
racing."
